The Association of Secretaries-General of Arab Parliaments held its 45th meeting in the Egyptian capital, Cairo, with the participation of His Excellency the Secretary-General of the Shura Council, Mr. Mohammed bin Dakhel Al-Mutairi, and the Secretaries-General of Arab Parliaments.* At the beginning of the meeting, Their Excellencies the members of the Association reviewed the items included in the agenda, which included the election of the President of the Association. During the meeting, His Excellency the Secretary-General of the Shura Council, Mr. Mohammed bin Dakhel Al-Mutairi, was nominated by Their Excellencies the members as President of the Association.* Following His Excellency Mr. Mohammed Al-Mutairi's assumption of the presidency of the Association of Secretaries-General of Arab Parliaments, His Excellency expressed in a press statement on this occasion the highest expressions of thanks, appreciation and gratitude to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and to His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Crown Prince and Prime Minister - may Allah protect them - for the support and follow-up that the Shura Council receives for all its work in various fields locally and abroad, through practicing its legislative, oversight and parliamentary diplomatic roles that have an impact on developing and strengthening relations, enriching parliamentary work and enhancing the Kingdom's position in the international parliamentary community.* This support from the wise leadership comes to confirm the status of the Shura Council as an important tributary to achieving the Kingdom's internal and external aspirations, which has given the Shura Council a high status among parliaments and similar councils and an influential voice in regional and international forums and conferences.* His Excellency also expressed his thanks and appreciation to His Excellency the Speaker of the Council, Sheikh Dr. Abdullah bin Mohammed bin Ibrahim Al Sheikh, for the support and guidance received by the General Secretariat of the Council, which enabled the General Secretariat to perform its role in preparing for the work and sessions of the Council and its work, developing its bodies, and contributing effectively with similar international bodies, including the Association of Secretaries General of Arab Parliaments.* The Secretary-General of the Shura Council confirmed in his statement that this endorsement came as a result of the Arab countries' appreciation of the Kingdom's role and the prominent position it enjoys in the region and its pioneering role in supporting Arab issues and enhancing cooperation in all fields.* Al-Mutairi also expressed his thanks and gratitude to Their Excellencies the members of the Assembly for their trust, stressing in this regard the importance of the roles assigned to the Association of Secretaries-General for everything that would advance parliamentary and organizational work in the administrative and technical aspects, and for everything that contributes to the exchange of parliamentary visions and experiences, and the search for the best ways to support parliamentary work to carry out its roles, expressing his aspiration to work in the spirit of one team to advance the roles assigned to the Association of Secretaries-General of Arab Parliaments to achieve the desired goals in accordance with its laws and competencies.
